April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking guitar and piano lessons at seven years old. Her interest in songwriting was awakened. In the seventh grade she began to take guitar and piano classes. This ignited her interest in writing songs. She spent a lot of time when she was 14 composing songs and experimenting with the piano. She began writing with her dad in NY and LA shortly after. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure problems and suicides among teenagers. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer who has a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership and is also a specialist in lifestyle. Her birthplace didn't come with a left hand, and that is the reason she's the person she is. However, that's not all the facts. Because of this, her Instagram page doesn't shy away from her disability, but the focus isn't on her disability neither. What message is it sending? It's crucial to understand that everyone has numerous faces. Our identities vary and we're beyond our body. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I do not wish for it to dictate my life. I do not want to be merely recognized as an expert in disabilities. It doesn't impact my daily routine. I go about doing my job as normal and have developed different ways of adapting. This is also part of me, and I believe it's something that needs to be addressed. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration on that front. Even so, Lockhart admits to going through periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes that showed her arms. She dresses according to her preferences and proudly posts pictures of herself wearing the clothes she chooses on social platforms. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I believe that you'll ever get there," she said. It's the same for everybody regardless of the level of insecurity. It's important to be surrounded by people who can really understand you.
